About me

Hello everyone,

glad you found my blog and welcome!

I’m Simon, 29 years old and live in a small city which is called Marl in the west of germany. In this blog you find everything about infrastructre with a deep focus on VMware, sometimes Azure and more rare posts about my personal life which i like to share with you. Feel free to to read through those posts!

Perhaps a little fun fact to start with: I’m really bad at programming – which makes it even funnier that this is actually where my story with VMware started.

During my A-Level I had to code a lot of C++ and Java, not my favorite activity, but still a learningfull time. Because my code was so bad and I was afraid to clutter up my system, I looked for a solution to run an operating system isolated in an operating system. This is where I had my first moment with VMware. 😊

After my IT apprenticeship, I had the opportunity to gain relatively quickly, new knowledge in large infrastructures at various large companies. In recent years, I have been able to gain deeper knowledge in the whole VCF-Stack but especially vSphere and vSAN and have always been able to benefit from the professional experience of colleagues. True to the motto ‘everyday is a learning day’, I have always tried to gain new learnings and create the best possible solution for customers/colleagues.

In 2024 I joined ITQ as a consultant for VMware and I hope to expand my knowledge even further and much deeper, find new challenges, get to know new cool colleagues and, last but not least, always focus on finding the best possible solution for the customers. And in fact, I found them! I learned many new things, started new challenges (like become a Broadcom Knight (former VCDX)) and found passion about new technologies i didnt know before!

When I’m away from my desk, I love spending time with my wife or friends. We either travel as often as time allows or you can find us at the gym (even on Friday evening #Favorite(Iron)Bar). As a lot of sport makes you hungry, I love good food. Especially pizza as well as smashburgers! A firm tradition in our home is to eat homemade neapolitan style pizza together on Fridays (either as a couple or with friends) and catch up with good drinks as well as smashburgers on Saturday. We even have a special equipment for this. So if you’re feeling hungry right now, feel free to get in touch! I’m planing to show you some of our recipes for bugers and pizza if you want. 🍔🍕

If you have any questions or requests, feel free to ask or reach out and I’m looking forward to getting to know you!
